IHM’s Feast Day Thanksgiving Mass and Celebration Lunch

Staff and students celebrated IHM’s Feast Day in the School Hall on 5 June. Reiterating the significance of Feast Day, our supervisor, Sister Lucy Chung restated students should learn the virtues of The Blessed Mother to thank God for everything they had and experienced. Representatives from the Parent-Teacher Association and student representatives presented gifts to the Supervisor, Principal and teachers to show their gratitude.

Following the celebration, all teachers and Catholic students proceeded to St Alfred’s Church to join guests, the teachers and students from IHMS and IHMK to attend the Thanksgiving Mass celebrating the IHMK’s 55th anniversary and the IHMC’s 45th anniversary. As that was such an important occasion for these two schools to celebrate this milestone, the Reverend fathers and deacons from The Order of Friars Minor (OFM), sisters of the school’s sponsoring body, supervisors and principals from schools in the district, school managers and parents came to attend the Mass. Rev. Matthias Choi, OFM, the celebrant, encouraged us to learn obedience from the Blessed Mother and be blessings to other people. Father Choi in his preaching also invited Sister Lucy, Deacon Li, IHMC’s alumnus, the serving and former principals, students of the two schools to come near to the altar. This was an act to convey the message of passing down the school mission upheld from generation to generation and to praise God for His blessings.

After the Thanksgiving Mass, a celebration lunch was held in the School Hall of IHMC for guests, principals, teachers and student leaders to unite in God’s love.

45th Anniversary Homecoming Day

To celebrate its 45th anniversary, our College organised Homecoming Day to share the joy with guests and alumni on 15 March 2026. It was started with a welcome speech and the prayer by the school supervisor, Sister Lucy Mary Chung. Following her was the speech from the Principal, Ms Mok Kit Yue. Members of the School Incorporated Management Committee, the Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association and the Chairperson of the Alumni Association were also in attendance to kick off the ceremony.

To make the ceremony more appealing and memorable, the School Choir and the Fencing Team had their live performances and their demonstrations were well-received. What united all attendees was the moment when the previous time capsule was unearthed. It was buried 10 years ago when the school was celebrating its 35th anniversary. Alumni who had contributed to the old time capsule were invited to witness this significant moment and share the joy of their past 10-year development. This joy was immediately followed by the burying of the new time capsule. Representatives from classes and different student organisations had their turns to put things memorable into the new time capsule and this also ended the opening ceremony harmoniously.

Apart from the time capsule, there were also other celebratory activities. In History Room, exhibits were displayed to tell the development of the school. Photos of graduates across all these years were also one of the focuses of the day. Meanwhile, there were game booths and the 45th anniversary souvenir sale and the proceeds of the sale will go to the installation of the LED screen in the hall.

When night fell, another highlight of the day was about to begin. It was the Poon Choi banquet hosted by Immaculate Heart of Mary Alumni Association. Sisters from the school sponsoring body, guests, teachers and alumni sat together around tables, savouring delicious food and chatting. There was nothing more satisfying to strengthen the bonds in a place that is so familiar with in the heart of every IHMCian.

The school motto, Love and Labour, has been passed on generation to generation. Please stay tuned as Save we are having some more celebrations to come.

Open Day to mark the 45th anniversary of Immaculate Heart of Mary College

“Sailing Towards Excellence” was the theme echoed on every corner at the Open Day of our College celebrating its 45th anniversary on 29 November 2025. In the Opening Ceremony, Sisters from Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Sorrows led the ceremony attendees including representatives of school managers, Immaculate Heart of Mary Alumni, Parent-Teacher Association and the Principal to say the prayer and declared the event open. Along with the Admission Talks where our Principal, Vice Principals and alumni shared information about different domains of life at school, teachers and students from various departments exhibited the students’ learning outcome and their development and achievements in academic and non-academic areas.

Throughout the day, P6 students from different primary schools and their parents came to attend the talks and tour around our campus where they had a thorough view of our school and ample chances to talk with teachers and students. They also had hands-on experience in the booths set up in classrooms. Faces of our alumni and retired teachers showed up to support this event as well. Walking in the same corridors and taking photos at the doors of their previous classrooms made their visits even more memorable. There were about 1500 visitors coming to our Open Day.

There was a charity sale on the campus on that day. The proceeds of the sale would be donated to Wang Fuk Court residents through Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.

45 years have passed but seeds of love in the hearts of those who are here and those who studied, taught and worked at Immaculate Heart of Mary College will always remain dedicated to school.

Opening Ceremony and School Opening Mass

This academic year 2025-2026 marked the 45th anniversary of Immaculate Heart of Mary College. On 15 September, the whole school celebrated this milestone in the School Year Opening cum Kick-off Ceremony in the School Hall. In the ceremony, followed by Bible reading, it was the highlight to light up the Lightbox bearing the anniversary logo which featured a sailboat and students aboard navigating in the world. The anniversary logo echoed the brightness from two jubilee year oil lamps. Those two oil lamps representing the Light from the Creator and Hope were passed on to IHMCians earlier on. The whole ceremony was heartwarming.

After the ceremony, Catholic students, teachers and Principals from our Kindergarten, Primary School and College and Sisters continued to celebrate the school anniversary and Kindergarten’s 55th anniversary in the Eucharist Mass celebrated by Rev. Cheung Lok Tin at St Alfred’s Church. Rev. Cheung was the school’s alumnus. In his preaching, he shared that we had to learn from the Blessed Mother as she always showed her faith in God even when she witnessed the death of her own son. Standing at the Cross, the Blessed Mother was calm and the love from God that she experienced transcended everything else.

The Mass ended beautifully after the group photo with Rev. Cheung was taken as this symbolised the oneness of a family, the Immaculate Heart of Mary family.

The 45th Anniversary

This year, all teachers, students and alumni are gratefully getting ready to celebrate the 45th anniversary of IHMC. In 1981, IHMC took root in Sha Tin. Upholding the motto “AMOR ET LABOR”(Love and Labour), we have been dedicated to educating our students. Now, after 45 years, because of diligence of generations and generations of our IHMC members, IHMC has thrived and flourished. As the 45th anniversary theme “Sailing Towards Excellence: Empowering Minds, Nurturing Hearts” states, with the joint effort put forward by every member of Immaculate Heart of Mary family, we hope our students are people of virtues. They are well-educated, healthy and active youngsters to reward the society, our country and the world with their knowledge and strengths. IHMC will continue bearing all hardships that our founders faced in mind and live out God’s love while caring for Sha Tin and nurturing our students to be youngsters with aspiration and dedication. Events celebrating our 45th anniversary will be held soon and we welcome all alumni, parents, teachers and students, from near and afar, to come and join us on these festive occasions. More details will be posted on the school website and Facebook Page of our College and IHMA.

The 45th Anniversary LOGO

The 45th anniversary logo is inspired by the school slogan: “Sailing Towards Excellence: Empowering Minds, Nurturing Hearts.” The design consists of four parts: an arrow representing “toward excellence,” a sail shaped like a heart symbolizing “nurturing hearts,” and a pole formed by a cross reflecting the Catholic mission of our school. Overall, the left side features a moving sailboat, while the right side depicts a globe, with our school name “IHMC” prominently displayed, all aligning with the College’s vision. It is hoped that students aboard can navigate this boat and thrive in the world.
