The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department have organised the “Young Astronaut Training Camp” since 2009. Every year, they select 30 local secondary school students to undergo astronaut training in Beijing and Jiuquan, and to visit key astronomy and aerospace facilities, meet and communicate with Chinese astronauts.
After three rounds of selection, which included a quiz on astronomy and space science, a three-day training camp, and an interview, our student, Tam Yi Ling from 6 Luke, was successfully selected as a Young Astronaut out of around 200 applicants from more than 130 secondary schools. This is also the second consecutive year that students from our school have been selected to join this programme.
