We are thrilled to announce that two of our students, Poon Sze Yin from 5 John and Kwee Emely Chu from 4 Mark, have achieved remarkable success at the Trace Our Root: Inter-school Historical Essay Competition. This prestigious event was co-organised by the Hong Kong Young Historian Institute and the Harbour Bay Society, with the support of the Hong Kong-Shanghai Development Institute of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The students secured both the Grade A Research Paper Award and the Outstanding Presentation Award for their compelling essay titled “Roots and Resistance: The Socio-Economic Evolution of a Hong Kong Family.” Their research centered on an insightful interview with our Vice Principal, Mr. Sung Sze Chun.
By documenting Mr. Sung’s family history, the students captured a narrative that mirrors Hong Kong’s own transformation – from the brave resistance against Japanese Aggression during the war to the city’s subsequent socio-economic boom. In recognition of its academic rigor, their paper will be published in the Tracing the Origins: Hong Kong Youth History Journal. Congratulations to Sze Yin and Emely on this incredible achievement in preserving our local heritage!
