Upon receiving an invitation from the Department of Statistics at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, an exciting visit was organized for students in F.4 to F.6 who are studying Mathematics Extended Modules. The purpose of the visit was to provide students with the opportunity to explore the Department of Statistics and gain valuable insights into the field and its applications.

The visit began with an informative admission talk delivered by the programme directors. This talk aimed to deepen students’ understanding of statistics and its diverse career prospects. Students had the chance to interact with professionals and experts from the department, enabling them to explore various career paths, including data analysis, actuarial science, risk management and research.

The highlight of the visit was the laboratory tour, where students witnessed real-world statistical analysis in action. This hands-on experience allowed them to see the practical applications of statistical methods and techniques.

The visit was highly enjoyable and provided students with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the field of statistics and its relevance in today’s world.
